Math Department
The math department at TechBoston Academy teaches the following subjects according to grade:
- Grade 9 Algebra I
- Grade 10 Geometry Honors, Geometry, Algebra/Geometry
- Grade 11 Algebra II/Trigonometry, Geometry/Algebra II
- Grade 12 Business/Personal Finance, Applied Maths

Mr. Barfus is in his third year at TechBoston Academy. He has been with BPS for 6 years, teaching Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Spanish. In addition to High School Mathematics, Barfus is certified in ESL and special education. He has lived in Mexico and Spain, and has traveled worldwide. |

Ms. Celeste Coleman |

This is Ms. Coleman's first year at TBA. She received a BSE in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and is equally passionate about both of the subjects she teaches: Math and Chemistry. She recently completed the Boston Teacher Residency program and received a Masters of Education from University of Massachustts - Boston. She teaches Chemistry and Senior Math Seminar. Outside of school, Ms. Coleman enjoys watching movies, dancing, going to restaurants, doing brainteasers, and laughing at her own jokes. |

Mr. Desai's is in his second year at TechBoston Academy. In 2003, he received his BS in Economics from Boston College. Mr. Desai has worked in education for the last nine years at numerous organizations such as Citizen Schools, Lesley University, and as a private tutor. Mr. Desai teaches Geometry at TechBoston Academy. |

Ms. Harrison has lived in Boston for most of her life. She is a high school graduate of Boston Latin Academy, a Boston Public School. Additionally she is a proud alumna of Clark Atlanta University where she received her B.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in Engineering. A life changing experience had compelled her to pursue teaching as her career. After moving back to Boston she received a M.A.T from Simmons College. Currently she is working on her Doctorate in Education. Ms. Harrison comes to TechBoston Academy with ten years of teaching experience in Mathematics. |

This is Mr. Uchendu’s first year at Tech Boston Academy. He came from another DEC school, the Academy of Public Service, where he taught math, grades 9 – 12. Mr. Uchendu graduated from Boston Latin School. He has a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Psychology. He has also received his M.Ed. in Education from University of Massachusetts – Boston. |

This is Mrs. Vernazza's first year at TBA. She comes to TechBoston from another Boston school where she taught math for 6 years at the middle school level. Mrs. Vernazza received her B.A. in Psychology-based Human Relations and Mathematics from Connecticut College and her M.Ed. in teaching mathematics from the University of Massachusetts- Boston. |
