History Department
The history department at TechBoston Academy teaches the following subjects according to grade:
- 9th grade World History
- 10th grade American History I
- 11th grade American History II
- 12th grade Facing History and Ourselves, and select yearly electives

This is Mr. Citrin's first year at TechBoston Academy. He has a B.A. in History from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and is currently working there on his M.Ed.
Mr. Citrin has lived in many parts of the world, including Egypt, France, Israel and New Jersey. He enjoys reading history, boxing, political debates and eating pasta. |

This is Ms. D's third year at TechBoston Academy. She teaches 9th grade World History II, 10th grade US History I, 11th grade Critical Reading and Writing for the SAT, and is a co-advisor for the Poetry Club.
Ms. Derstine comes to TBA by way of the non-profit world, where she worked in the social services/education fields in upstate New York, Washington, D.C. and, finally, Boston. Ms. D holds Bachelors degrees in Political Science and Policy Studies from Syracuse University, and a Masters degree in Secondary Education from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
Outside of school, Ms. D loves to read, cook, watch movies, frequent the great outdoors, do yoga, and, of course, hang out with her rescued pup, Tilly. |

This is Mr. E's fourth year at TechBoston Academy.
In 1996, Mr. E received a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Union College. His Bachelor of the Arts in History is from Skidmore College.
Mr. E teaches US History I, US Government, and History, Film, and Literature of the 20th century.

This is Dr. P's second year at TechBoston, but his nineteenth year in secondary education.
Most recently, Dr. P was the Vice Principal at Boston College High School from 2003 to 2005. Dr. P received his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Boston College in 2004. He received his M.A.T. from Harvard Universtiy and his B.A. from Holy Cross College.

| Ms. Natasha Huggins |
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Ms. Huggins relocated to Dorchester, MA three years ago. Before joining the TBA community, she worked in Admissions at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA. Prior to that experience, she spent three years teaching English in Japan to Junior High School students in a rural community.
Some of Ms. Huggins' interests are international relations, Japanese language & culture, running, knitting, hiking and having fun with family & friends. She is currently a graduate student at UMass Boston pursuing a degree in education. She received her B.A from Wellesley College. She teaches 11th grade US History II and 9th grade World History II.

Mr. Gerard Tannera

Mr. Tannetta recently received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. At Lowell he double majored in History and Political Science. He currently goes to the University of Massachusetts Boston where he is seeking his Master's Degree in Secondary Education. Mr. Tannetta co-teaches World History II and US History I with Dr. Pontbriand. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Tannetta enjoys being active in the political world, reading, and playing guitar. |
Mr. Scott Goddess

Mr. Goddess graduated from the University of Hartford in 1995 where he received a Bachelor of Arts in History. Currently, Mr. Goddess is working towards two masters degrees: a Master of Critical and Creative Thinking through the University of Massachusetts Boston and a Master of Education through the University of Massachusetts Boston - Teach Next Year program.
At Tech Boston Academy, Mr. Goddess is teaching World History II with Mr. Ensdorf and US History II with Mr. Malanga. Before his switch to teaching, Mr. Goddess worked as a district manager and an operations manager for a Dunkin’ Donuts franchise between Boston, MA and Hartford, CT.
Mr. Goddess, will be married seven years this February and is the father of a three year old daughter. Mr. Goddess enjoys spending time with his family, reading, traveling, cycling, and big waves. |
