Term One IP WHII- The Arab Spring and Social Media: French Revolution Reflection

For this term’s Interdisciplinary Project, you are going to write a FIVE PARAGRAPH reflection paper on the French Revolution and compare your activity to the use of social media during the “Arab Spring” of 2011.

The theme for this term’s IP is COMMUNITY.

The Arab Spring refers to the uprisings and revolutions in the Middle East and Africa that started in December 2010 and are ongoing today.  They have resulted in the overthrow of the Egyptian, Tunisian, and Libyan governments, as well as forced reforms in places like Morocco and Yemen.

One of the reasons cited for their success is the use of SOCIAL MEDIA.  This is defined by Mirriam-Webster as:

forms of electronic communication (as Web sites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos)

Your French Revolution project used social media as well, in the form of Tumblr.

Read the article linked below about the use of social media and the Arab Spring, then answer the question(s) to write your essay.
